NHU Celebrates National Drinking Water Week

New Holstein Utilities invites the citizens and businesses of New Holstein to celebrate National Drinking Water Week with us from April 29 through May 5.

The week is celebrated in the United States to promote the safe and reliable water supply that we have available to us on a daily basis. There are still many areas of the world where a good water supply is unavailable. We often take water supply for granted until it is threatened, either by drought, water main breaks, or some other event. The special week gives us an opportunity to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives.

To celebrate, refreshments will be served daily at our office (located in New Holstein City Hall) from April 29 through May 5. New Holstein citizens are invited to stop by to register for a chance to win a front loading washing machine or gift certificates.

The Water Department will host tours of Well #1, located at 1821 Park Avenue (behind the Senior Center). The tours will be held on April 29 from 9:30 am to Noon and on April 30 from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Come by to see the renovated pumphouse and how your water system is operated.

NHU is once again partnering with the local elementary schools to educate the students and offer them the opportunity to win gift certificates. During National Drinking Water Week, students in grades Pre-K through 5 who complete a Water Word Search may register to win a gift certificate. The Word Search will be distributed through the schools and may be returned to the school, New Holstein Library or the NHU office. We recognize that the younger students may find the Word Search a challenge to do. Therefore, we are encouraging another family member to assist them in finding the words. This will be a fun family activity to work on!

New Holstein Utilities is pleased to serve over 1,400 customers in the City of New Holstein. We hope to see you during National Drinking Water Week!
