NHU Donates to the Community in 2009
In an effort to support the community in 2009, New Holstein Utilities and its employees donated funds and time to local organizations and events.
As in years past, New Holstein Utilities with support from its wholesale power supplier, WPPI Energy, provided financial support for many community causes in 2009. Since the inception of the community contributions program in 1998, tens of thousands of dollars have been donated to organizations and projects in New Holstein. WPPI Energy's member communities have received more than one million dollars over the past ten years.
In 2009, donations were made to the City of New Holstein for the new Aquatic Center, New Holstein Fire Department for their annual fireworks, New Holstein Community Chest, Salvation Army, and the Helping Hands Food Pantry. The New Holstein Chamber of Commerce and the New Holstein Economic Development Corporation each received financial support to continue their efforts in retaining and promoting business in the community. Three $500 scholarships were given to local high school students to assist them in continuing their education.
The New Holstein Utilities staff was also involved in volunteering their time to organizations in the community. Their efforts helped raise money to support events and programs, promote business in New Holstein, and to maintain the wonderful quality of life in the community.
We look forward to contributing more of the same for the New Holstein community in 2010!
