Onesti Completes Apprenticeship Program
Adam Onesti has completed the requirements of the Lineworker Apprencticeship Program and is now recognized as a qualified Journeyman Lineworker.
In order to complete the Lineworker Apprenticeship Program, an apprentice lineworker must participate in a couple of months of classroom instruction and hands-on training every year for four (4) years. After each year of classroom instruction, the apprentice lineworker must successfully complete an examination(s) to advance to the next year of instruction and training. In addition to the classroom instruction, the apprentice lineworker must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training. During the on-the-job training the apprentice lineworker must consistently prove that (s)he is competent in completing a variety of duties in a safe and efficient manner. The individual's co-workers and supervisor(s) are an important part of the apprentice's development and growth as a lineworker. The Apprenticeship Program's standards are developed and monitored by Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development.
New Holstein Utilities currently has four (4) journeyman lineworkers on staff serving our customers.
Adam has been employed by NHU since January of 2008. He also has an Associates Degree in Urban Forestry. His knowledge of forestry has been very valuable to the utility's ongoing tree maintenance program for the electric distribution system.
Congratulations Adam on your accomplishment!
