Although the City of New Holstein's Large Refuse pick up has been completed, the City of New Holstein will be hosting a site for Calumet County's Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep program on Friday, May 13.
Calumet County is sponsoring a Clean Sweep Hazardous Waste disposal program for all Calumet County residents, farms and small businesses on May 13 and May 14. The City of New Holstein will host the event on Friday, May 13 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Public Works Garage, located at 1319 Taft Avenue. The event on May 14 will be hosted by the Town of Harrison from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at their town hall located at W5298 Hwy 114 in Menasha.
At the Clean Sweep events, hazardous wastes will be collected and then disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Hazardous wastes that will be accepted include: solvents, pesticides, herbicides, poisons, lead and oil based paints, gasoline, waste oil and anti-freeze. NO LATEX PAINT will be accepted. Other unaccepted materials include explosives, smoke detectors, compressed air or propane tanks, ammunition or compact fluorescent light bulbs.
For a small fee of $1.00 per item (cash only will be accepted) the event will accept computers, monitors, laptops, televisions, fax machines, printers, photo copiers, VCRs, DVD players and cell phones. Items such as keyboards, mice, speakers, docking stations and scanners will be accepted at no cost.
