Teach Your Kids the ABCs of Electrical Safety
Before you send your kids back to school, teach them how to stay safe around electrical equipment. Some topics to talk about:
Children should steer clear of transformer boxes and substations.
A fallen power line or one that is near the ground can kill a child. Tell your kids not to touch them.
If your children like to climb trees, make them promise to stay out of trees that have power lines through or near the limbs.
Do not let your children play with kites that have wire or wet strings. Also, kites should not be flown near power lines.
At school, children should follow the rules for working with computers and other plugged-in equipment.
