WPPI Growth Continues
Wisconsin Public Power Inc. (WPPI), the wholesale electric provider to New Holstein and thirty-eight other Wisconsin communities, have added another member. At the May 19 Board of Directors meeting, the membership voted unanimously to accept the application for the community of Mount Horeb. The community is located in western Dane County, near Madison, and will begin taking power from WPPI on July 1, 2005
WPPI will now provide electricity and services to 40 of the state's 82 municipal electric utilities. Mount Horeb, along with Juneau and New Glarus, joined WPPI this year. Since 2001, ten community-owned electric utilities have joined WPPI.
"The continued growth WPPI is experiencing provides our members with load diversity, greater economies of scale in the acquisition of new resources and a stronger market presence," said WPPI President and CEO Roy Thilly.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, WPPI and its members now supply electricity to more than 154,000 customers throughout Wisconsin, making it the fifth-largest power company in the state..
