NHU Celebrates Public Power Week

Public Power Week is an annual event that celebrates the benefits of locally owned and operated electric utilities, and will be celebrated October 1 - 7.

We invite you to join in the celebration by stopping at our office at the New Holstein City Hall for refreshments. While enjoying the refreshments you can pick up a small token of our appreciation and register to win a door prize. This year we are giving away a Weber propane gas grill and a compact refrigerator.

More than 40 million people in over 2,000 communities throughout the country benefit from reliable and economic electric service provided by public power utilities. New Holstein is one of 82 public power communities in Wisconsin. Some of the key benefits of a public power utility include:

  • Lower rates than most investor-owned utilities.
  • Local control of the electric utility operation.
  • Reliable, responsive customer service.
  • Quick outage response from utility crews.
  • In-lieu-of-tax payments to the city's general fund.
  • Emphasis on long term community goals.
  • Availability to work with other departments within the city.

We take great pride that we have been able to serve the city of New Holstein and the surrounding rural areas since 1912. We look forward to serving our customers for many years to come!
