Public Power Week Events; LED Holiday Lights

New Holstein Utilities would like to thank all of our customers who participated in our Public Power Week events. It was wonderful to see our customers stop by the office to pick up some of the promotional items and to register for the door prizes that were being given away.

We especially want to thank the customers who were generous with their donations for our annual food and non-perishable food item drive. Customers who brought in at least one item for the local food pantry received a compact fluorescent light bulb. We also wish to thank the students and their parents from the local schools who donated items in exchange for the opportunity to get registered to win one of several prizes that were given away to the students.

The local food pantry was very pleased to accept the generous donations from the area residents. Due to the many local families in need of food, the pantry's inventory has been getting low recently. In fact, they have had to go out to purchase items to keep an acceptable inventory. We were told by the food pantry organizers that our event brought in a little more than 1,000 items! Again, thank you for your support.

The following adults were winners of our door prizes:

  • Joan Nisler, Weber gas grill
  • Joe Thielman, energy efficient 45 pt dehumidifier
  • Eric Nysse, LED flashlight
  • Elroy Spletter, room occupancy sensor and CFL bulb

The student prize winners included: Alyssa Gerhartz, Lydia Blatz, Grace Winkel, Payton Jens, McKenzie Doherty, Jesse Guerrero, Kelly Schmitz, Sue Henschel, Jenna Frish, and Kayse Anderson

Customers who enjoy decorating their homes and businesses for the upcoming holidays may be interested in our promotion with the New Holstein True Value Hardware store. Beginning October 15, the hardware store will begin to offer LED (light emitting diode) holiday light strings at reduced prices. Through rebates available from the Focus on Energy program and New Holstein Utilities these energy efficient holiday lights will be competitively priced with regular incandescent bulbs.

The LED holiday lights offer many advantages over the typical holiday lights. The biggest advantage is that the LED holiday lights are extremely energy efficient and operate for only a fraction of the cost of the typical holiday lights. The LED technology will last for many years, so you no longer will have to worry about replacing light strings every other year. The lights are also cool to the touch so you do not have to worry about young children touching them and getting burned, or the lights coming into contact with dry needles. The LED technology comes in a variety of colors and shapes, so stop down at the New Holstein True Value hardware store to view their selection.
