Pay Your Bill

Time-of-Day Information

Are your family members away from home during the day? Does most of your electric consumption occur in the evenings or on the weekends? If so, you may be able to save money on your electric bill by utilizing our Time-of-Day rate.

You are already familiar in using “off-peak” rates. Examples include planning a vacation during a resort’s off-season or making a long distance phone call on the weekend. New Holstein Utilities’ Time-of-Day rate works on the same principle. During the day, demand for electricity from industries, businesses, and residences is at its peak. In the evenings and on weekends the demand for electricity is much lower. Actual electric costs vary depending on the time of the day.

With the Time-of-Day rate, your electric costs are directly related to the time that you use electricity. If your family’s lifestyle is such that you use the clothes washer and dryer, electric oven, dishwasher, electric water heater, and other major appliances and equipment in the evenings or on the weekends, this rate may save you money. This rate may also be good if you use electricity to heat your home or apartment.

This rate schedule may not be good for you if you must drastically change your lifestyle to fit when you use the electric appliances and equipment. In fact, this rate may end up costing you money instead of saving you money if too many lifestyle changes must be made to accommodate the rate. On the other hand, if you are building a new home, and plan ahead to include off peak storage heat, the savings are tremendous. We currently have a customer who spends approximately $100.00 per winter month for electricity, which is the only energy source on the premises.

Heat storage is the best way to make use of the time-of-day rates. Some of the current technologies are located at the following websites.

Customers may choose from one of three “on-peak” (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) pricing periods:

  • 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

“Off-peak” times are all times not specified as “on-peak” including the following holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Customers selecting electric service under this rate schedule must take all service under this schedule and must remain on this rate at the pricing period initially selected for a minimum of 12 months.

Please contact New Holstein Utilities to learn more about our Time-of-Day rate. We will be happy to work with you to see if you can save money on this rate.
